After joining WW’s, my love for fitness and cooking ignited. Years later, I decided I wanted to create a space to share my experiences, ups and downs, weight loss struggles and victories, recipes, workouts, challenges, and whatever else you can think of. I knew it was time to put something different out there, especially for people who look like me. I’m not “skinny” and I’m far from perfection. I am a curvy girl. To many I am a plus-size, and to others I am in-betweenie. That word is so cute! I don’t wear a sports bra without a t-shirt while working out showing ripped abs, I’m not an elite runner, and I love occasional indulgences. I love staying active and striving to improve myself daily.

Running has become a great passion of mine and has shown me that I CAN go the distance! I started distance running in 2011 and because I am a back-of-the-pack runner, it has been a great challenge for me. But guess what I did? I kept pushing! When I started running, I couldn’t jog 15 seconds without being winded. As of today, I have completed several distances starting with a 5K (too many to count). I would have never considered becoming a distance runner if it were not for my faith and Jeff Galloway’s: Galloway Method. I have gone on to complete: one official 15K, one official 10K, 12 half marathons (13.1 miles), and I completed FOUR full marathons (26.2 miles) all in 2015!  Never in a million years would I have believed that I could run a marathon. I am a proud back-of-the-pack’er and I give my all! I hope to be a source of inspiration to those who may feel discouraged on their running journey. Trust me…I’ve been there and I’m still doing that! I‘m a marathoner—and the rest is history in the making! If I can do it, YOU can do it, too!

It is my mission to encourage others to live balanced, active, and healthier lives no matter their size. You can also start your fitness journey no matter where you are. All you have to do is take the first step! This blog is a place where foodies can unite as well as a place where go-getters can focus on personal goals and celebrate progress and non-scale victories. It’s not about having the perfect body because we are all created differently, but it is about allowing the person in the mirror to be your motivation every single day. Whether you want to complete a specific distance of running, get started on your weight loss journey, or want to get fit—you can do it! It’s about body positivity, self-love, and finding YOUR happy pace and enjoying the ride!

  1. Wow. Loved your bio and I really like reading your posts. I’m subscribing to you now! You inspire me to run. I go to bed with the intent to run, and wake up and say, oh, I’ll run tomorrow. I do enjoy lifting weights however. So I get my work-out in. But I want to push myself to run. I enjoyed it when I was doing it. Can you share any tips to get motivated? Thanks for inspiring me. :)

    • Thank you so much!!! That’s very kind of you. As for your weights…stick with that for sure! It’s great to strength train when you are a runner to help prevent injury. However, if you truly desire to run, there are ways to get started. I recommend you downloading the Couch 2 5K app by Active.com. It may cost about $2, but it’s so worth it. It will help train you for your first 5K (running with endurance, etc). There’s also a 5K to 10K, etc. When you get started running, I’m letting you know you will get the running bug! Especially since you desire to. If you have a Black Girls Run group in your city, I say attend one of the runs…that’s a great way to get support. I hope you enjoy your running journey! It’s truly a passion of mine. I love every minute of training (even through the rough days)…I must, to sacrifice time, push my body beyond limits, etc. Keep me posted!   2. Hello. OK, I’m going to look for those apps. And two bucks is totally fine if I can get motivation to run. It’s hard too because my friends don’t want to run either. Ha-ha. So I have to push myself and stay focused. I would love to do a 5K someday. Happy blogging and I’ll chat with you soon!
