Beauty

I’m all for drugstore brand make-up, because I have truly found some gems like one of my favorite fall colors found on this super throwback post here. But sometimes I will find a product that I really want to try for myself. Last year Kylie Jenner came out with liquid lipstick + lip liner duos part of her cosmetic line. I started following her on Snapchat because she will unveil new lip kits and products before she shares to Instagram/Facebook/Twitter. Kylie posted a photo of her matte lipstick colors for fall, which also featured women of color and women with deeper tones, including her BFFs Jordyn Woods and Justine Skye (who is a beautiful, chocolate girl about my complexion). This is how I ended up trying out her lipstick line to begin with.

Love Bite really caught my eye. There were many colors that I liked, but I wanted to rock with colors that I didn’t have. I purchased the Love Bite Lip Kit ($29.00), which included the Matte Liquid Lipstick and Lip Liner. It’s a pretty rich, plum brown and perfect for fall. Being that I tried her products last year, I’m going to pretend she didn’t shade my Island Bae, Rihanna, and her new FENTY BEAUTY (Beauty For All) collection recently.

PROS

  • Dries fast
  • Lipstick stays on well (even after coffee)
  • No smudging
  • Does not rub off
  • The color is pretty
  • Liner was well pigmented and stayed on well
  • Not sticky
  • Reasonably priced
  • Save a few bucks by purchasing the lip kit

CONS

  • Matte can dry out your lips (exfoliate and moisturize).
  • The lip kit pencil is incredibly awkward. It has a wax-like, plastic texture when you sharpen it.
  • The entire (color) stick fell out of my pencil.
  • I would prefer to buy another brand of lip pencil.
  • Shipping was too high. Wait for FREE shipping.

LOVE BITE

UPDATE – One year later

I ended up purchasing a few more liquid lipsticks and I can honestly say…they are hit or miss depending on the color. Love Bite is the only one that I loved consistently from beginning to end. I think she started tweaking the formula, and that didn’t go over so well with some of her make-up fans.

I purchased “Spice” part of her fall collection and it became way too cakey not long after purchase. Pretty color, but hated it! Next, I tried “Trick” which was released right before Halloween last year and it’s a dusty, blackened green. You can also see it here. I really like this color, but unfortunately, it’s not available. Who knows, she may bring it back. Here are a few alternatives that will give you the perfect green.

TRICK

I also tried the KoKo Collection, but I ended up only wearing one color (for reals) — “Gorg” (a pretty burgundy wine). I wore this one quite a bit, so I think I got good use out of it. However, I wish I would have found these 10 Life-Changing Matte Lipstick Hacks back then. I also tried “Damn Gina” (soft shimmering peach pink), but it’s a gloss which I rarely wear, however, it’s very pretty on.

Love Bite may be the only liquid lipstick that I will purchase from her line, being that I have found some others that I really like.

Have you tried the Kylie Cosmetics line?  What’s your favorite product or lipstick color?

I can’t believe fall is almost here which means *drum roll* COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON! Besides fall being my favorite season, I’m totally looking forward to cooler temps, football games, fun with family, and fun events around my city. There’s something about tailgating, burgers on the grill, festivals, and concerts (just to name a […]
