Sometimes you just need to hang out on a school night with your tribe. Last night I attended a Birmingham blogger meet-up at one of the coolest spots in Avondale. I’m somewhat familiar with the area, but there have been so many new places popping up, I can’t keep up. If you didn’t know this, Birmingham has some of the most amazing entertainment and dining establishments.
I entered the building, walked up stairs, and discovered a new eatery called, “Hot Diggity Dogs”. I thought I was lost until the server told me that I was, indeed, in the right place. The Marble Ring, a speakeasy establishment, was right behind a secret door. Once I went through the proper steps to gain entrance, I found my blogger babes. The atmosphere was moody with a 1920’s vibe. Thanks, J! There’s nothing like sitting back, relaxing, releasing the day, and enjoying some cocktails for happy hour with friends.
We talked about everything from running to what we have been learning during #BlogLikeCrazy thus far. I realized that meeting up with the ladies was exactly what I needed. When you go through the hustle and bustle of your day, you realize you have work, a life, and you most definitely need balance. It’s so important to take time to enjoy yourself, laugh, and just breathe.

Although this year came to a complete halt for me, there were a few highlights of 2016 that I wanted to share and just say…THANK YOU. My first is to my beautiful Mama and my family who always encouraged me on my journey as a distance runner. Being a woman with curves (plus-size) I never […]
OK, so I really hadn’t planned on it, but since we’re here…and it’s Friday…why not! I’ve been going through a transition period and I’m finally to a point where I actually feel like blogging again. It’s been a process, but I’m here. If you know me then you know that I love to take pictures…random […]
I went through my old posts today having moments of reflection. All the way back to my first draft and published post on May 4, 2011. I still can’t believe it has been Five Years! I laughed at how far I have come as a blogger, writer, and a “photographer”. *whew* cell phone picture quality […]

Did you know that November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month? Sadly, you don’t hear much talk about it. My Dad was a smoker. I hated it. Filter Kings, Super Long has been etched in my brain since childhood. In 2002 as I was preparing to graduate from college, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. This […]
