Welcome to the wonderful world of Marley/Havana Twists! What they are called, depends on who you ask. I installed these less than a year ago. I’ve been meaning to post pics, but I had a hard time locating them. I hid them from myself or they are amongst my many devices. I did find a few photos with all kinds of fancy filters. Who doesn’t love fancy filters, right?! I love the filters because they show them in more detail.
I absolutely loved these Havana/Marley twists. It was my 4th time installing twists, but my first time for Havana (super chunky) twists. My first set were Senegalese twists (waist length), seen here. I completed those in 11 hours. I decided I wanted them again in Winter (last year), so I installed them again here. I even installed Marley twists for the first time, but I used a different type of hair trying to recreate my Senegalese twists. FAIL! Lol I realized you can’t do that. Different twists, require different textures/types of hair. They were more like kinky twists. I’ll post about those later.

This was a super, random bun style! Not even neat, messy in all its gloriousness! Can’t you tell I was excited about my new eyeglasses!? I mean, they showed up in like…every pic!
I actually went back and decided to make my twists smaller. I redid mainly the front and top. I still can’t remember why I did that. I am a runner, so they may have been a little too heavy for what I needed at the time. Either way, I liked the way they turned out.

About my twists process:

Brand of hair used: Femi Marley hair — about 6 packs. I used the invisible twist method.

I used about 3 to 4 pieces depending on the size and spread them apart with my fingers to make them full. This brand of Marley hair was not as full. I’ve also used Bonne Marley hair (when I ran out). I like that brand because they usually have fuller pieces.

Took me about 9 hours to complete.

Products I used: African Pride Braid Spray, a spritzer of water with peppermint oil, and a few drops of castor oil for my post-workout spritz (mainly for scalp); a water bottle to spray twists if they needed moisture or looked dry.

I watched numerous YouTube videos and then decided to try them on myself. I’m not a professional, they just turned out pretty sweet!

Can Havana twists be done on someone with relaxed/not natural hair?
